Repeat Order For Wärtsilä
Company receives order for integrated propulsion solution for three multigas carriers
Wärtsilä has received a repeat order from Evergas, the Copenhagen, Denmark-based transporter of petrochemical gases and natural gas liquids.
The order comprises an integrated solution – the main propulsion equipment, the gas fuel supply system, and the cargo handling system – for three new 27 000 m3 LNG/multigas carriers. This is an extension of the 2013 order placed for a series of three similar vessels.
For each vessel, Wärtsilä will supply two Wärtsilä 50DF dual-fuel main engines, two Wärtsilä 20DF auxiliary gen-sets, the gearbox, and the controllable pitch propeller. Wärtsilä will also supply the cargo handling system with re-liquefaction and an integrated LNG fuel supply system. This integration means that less energy and power is needed for cooling the cargo, thereby increasing both the efficiency and the environmental sustainability, the company said.
The delivery of the 178 m long vessels will take place during 2015. The ships are being built by the Sinopacific Offshore & Engineering (SOE) shipyard in China. Wärtsilä's cooperation with the shipyard will continue until the vessels are launched.
