Posted on November 2, 2004

GE Energy was awarded a US$61 million contract by Dangote Industries Limited of Lagos, Nigeria to provide three, LM6000PC Sprint aeroderivative natural gas, dual fuel gas turbine generator sets with water injection for a Nigerian cement plant. The agreement represents the first industrial LM6000 project for GE Energy in Nigeria. Each generator set has a total capacity of 44.3 MW and will be installed at the Obajana Cement Plant in Kogi State, Nigeria. The turbines will be used for simple-cycle power generation. The primary fuel is natural gas and the backup fuel is diesel/liquid. GE Energy will also be providing balance of plant equipment and installation supervision. The three gas turbine generator sets were shipped at the end of September and are expected to begin commercial operation during the first quarter of 2005.
