Siemens Gas Turbines Orders for Poland
Through its subsidiary Siemens Industrial Turbomachinery AB in Sweden, Siemens has secured orders from Poland for the supply of nine, 25 MW gas turbines. The orders were placed by the Polish company ABB Zamech Gazpetro Sp. z o.o. The company is to supply three turnkey compressor stations for Warsaw-based STG EuRoPol GAZ s.a, the investor and operator of the Polish section of the Yamal gas pipeline. The order is valued at over US$114 million.
The type GT10B gas turbines will be used to drive compressors in the Polish section of the Yamal gas pipeline linking the Yamal peninsula in Siberia with Western Europe. The gas-fired turbines will be installed at three successive compressor stations along the gas pipeline. In addition, the order also covers the engineering, and the supervision of erection and commissioning. The turbines and their control systems will be supplied by the Siemens manufacturing plant in Finspong, Sweden. The first six turbines will be installed this winter in Szamotuly and Ciechanow. The remaining three machines for the Szamotuly location will follow in the summer of 2005.
