Posted on November 22, 2006

Rolls-Royce has won three orders from customers in Asia for energy equipment to operate on offshore oil & gas platforms.

The orders include the first Rolls-Royce gas turbines for installation in Vietnam, where two Avon gas turbine-powered compression systems have been ordered for installation on a platform in the Su Tu Vang offshore field.

The compressors, ordered by J. Ray McDermott Asia Pacific PL, will operate in gas-lift duty as part of a major expansion of oil production from Su Tu Vang, one of the fields in the Cuu Long Basin operated by Cuu Long Operating Company.

The second contract is for two RB211 gas turbine-powered booster gas compressor trains to be installed in the JDA Block B-17 Offshore gas field. Ordered by Carigali – PTTEPI Operating Company Sdn Bhd, this latest contract continues the strong growth of Rolls-Royce gas turbine-powered compression equipment in the offshore sectors of Malaysia and Thailand over the past 20 years.
