Posted on November 20, 2009

Cummins Power Generation (CPG) has expanded its global manufacturing capabilities with the recent opening of a plant in central China. The CPG Wuhan plant will offer a broad range of diesel electrical generator sets from 11 to 2000 kW, G-drives and automatic transfer switches (ATS) for emergency backup, prime power and continuous electrical power.

Cummins has invested US$19 million in the 20 000 square meter facility. The plant will have an annual capacity of 7300 units of diesel electrical generator sets, 20000 G-drives and 15000 ATS. The plant is located near key suppliers and transportation facilities with access to locally produced engines and key components.

According to the company, the new facility will meet the increased demand for Cummins products in China and the international market. The plant is CPG's third operation in China. Other sites include a generator assembly plant in Beijing and a Cummins Generator Technologies plant in Wuxi.
