ICL Technology Selected For New OMV Project
Integrated compressor line (ICL) technology from GE Oil & Gas has again been selected for an OMV gas compression facility in Baumgarten, Austria. This contract follows an agreement announcement in July 2009 for GE to provide initial three ICL units for OMV's Neustift compression station, part of the extension of the Penta West Gas Pipeline.
The three, 6 MW ICL units for Baumgarten will be manufactured and tested at GE Oil & Gas' facilities in Le Creusot, France and will be shipped to the project site by the end of 2010. They are expected to enter commercial operation by mid-2011.
GE's ICL technology features an integrated system that combines three technologies: centrifugal compression, active magnetic bearings and high-speed electric motors. Driven by electricity rather than gas, ICL units save energy and avoid associated CO2 emissions.
OMV Gas GmbH of Austria is a 100% subsidiary of OMV Group, a European integrated energy company with operations and activities throughout the oil and gas value chain.
