Overhaul, Inspection Work Extend Service Life
Siemens Energy has received an order from EnBW Kraftwerke AG to perform a major inspection and overhaul on four steam turbines (each comprising a high-, intermediate and low-pressure cylinder) at the Heilbronn CHP plant and the Walheim power station. The work is scheduled to be performed in the period from June 2010 to mid-2011.
The steam turbines are AEG machines and on average over 40 years old. The major inspection and overhaul work will extend the service life of these components for low-cost power generation for at least another 10 years. Steam turbines 5 and 6 at the Heilbronn plant will be fully overhauled and repaired to the latest standard, and machines 1 and 2 in the Walheim plant will also be given the same revamp.
