Caterpillar Marine announced that its MaK engines have been selected to power an Østensjø Rederi newbuild set for delivery in spring 2016.

The propulsion system is comprised of two MaK 8 M32 E generating sets with a power output of 4.4 MW each, two MaK 6 M32 E sets at 3.3 MW each, and two MaK 6 M20 C at 1.1 MW each.

Cat said the M 32 E engine solutions boast an increased power rating of 550 kW per cylinder at 720 and 750 r/min, with total output ranging from 3300 kW for the six-cylinder configuration to 4950 kW for the nine-cylinder configuration.
