Rolls-Royce Receives US$80 million Order
Rolls-Royce has announced an order valued at US$80 million from Petrobras to supply seven power generation packages for service offshore Brazil. The order includes seven RB211 genset packages, for the Marlim Sul (P-51) FPU, and for a fixed repumping platform (PRA-1). The P-51 FPU is part of Petrobras’ development of the Marlim Sul field, located off the coast of Rio de Janeiro in the Campos Basin.
The order for P-51 includes two modules, each containing two RB211 6562 dual fuel gensets with waste heat recovery systems. The modules will provide electrical power for the FPU. The order for PRA-1 is for a power generation module containing three RB211 6562 dual fuel gensets. As part of a master plan for oil flow and treatment, PRA-1 will serve as a central pumping facility for oil produced in the Marlim Sul, Marlim Leste and Roncador fields. The P-51 and PRA-1 gensets will be packaged at the Rolls-Royce facility in Liverpool, England. Deliveries of the modules are scheduled for the 2nd and 1st quarter, 2006
Once completed, the 41 000 ton P-51 unit will have a daily capacity to process 180 000 barrels of oil, compress 6.0 million cubic meters of gas and inject 45 thousand cubic meters of water per day. PRA-1 is expected to have a re-pumping capacity of 815 thousand barrels per day. When fully operational, PRA-1 will collect and transport 40% of Brazil’s current oil production. Commercial start-up for P-51 is scheduled for the 4th quarter 2006.
