Alstom Power Plant Order for Argentina

Posted on October 20, 2005

Alstom has been awarded a contract for the turnkey construction of a 465 MW gas-fired combined cycle power plant in Argentina. The deal brings the total of Alstom GT13E2 machines sold worldwide to 100. The contract, with Argentinean aluminium company Aluar, covers the engineering, supply, erection and commissioning of the plant, which will supply electricity to Aluar’s smelters at its site in Puerto Madryn, Province of Chubut.

The plant technology is based on two GT13E2 heavy duty gas turbines in a multishaft arrangement with two heat recovery steam generators, steam turbine, three electrical generators, and electrical balance of plant. Alstom will also supply two gas treatment systems within the site’s pot room and anode bake furnace. The power plant is due to come into commercial operation in November 2007.
