Fifth MAN Two-stroke for Bahamas Site

The Bahamas Electricity Corporation (BEC) has awarded an order for an 18 MW extension of their plant at Clifton Pier, Nassau to Burmeister & Wain Scandinavian Contractor (BWSC), Denmark. The plant extension will include an MAN B&W Diesel 12K50MC-S engine, developing 18.3 MW at 180 r/min. The engine will be supplied by Mitsui Engineering & Shipbuilding Co., Ltd. in Japan - MAN B&W Diesel’s longest-standing licensee. The new extension will be the fifth MAN B&W Diesel two-stroke low speed diesel engine at the site, bringing the total capacity up to 135 MW.
