Berg Propulsion To Equip Oil Spill Response Vessel
Berg Propulsion has received a contract to equip a 64 m oil spill response vessel ordered by Astromaritima Navegacao at the Estaleiro Ilha (EISA) shipyard in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
Berg will supply a propulsion package to the vessel, including azimuth and tunnel thrusters fitting with Berg’s condition monitoring system, according to the company.
The vessel, which will be operated by Brazilian oil company Petrobras, will be delivered toward the end of 2011. Petrobras plans to build more than 140 offshore support vessels in order to expand and renew its fleet.
