Caterpillar To Supply Marine Propulsion Engines To Indian Coast Guard

Caterpillar Marine Power Systems will supply 72 Cat 3516C marine propulsion engines (2525 bkW at 1800 r/min) and 72 C4.4 auxiliary generator sets (86 ekW at 1500 r/min) to the Indian Coast Guard.

The equipment will power 36 interceptor boats, which Larsen & Toubro Ltd. (L&T), Mumbai, India, will build. The boat will be constructed with an aluminum alloy hull and feature water jet propulsion. The engine and gen-sets will be delivered over the course of three years, with the project set to conclude in late 2013.

Cat dealer Gmmco, India, will provide product and customer service support to L&T and the Indian Coast Guard.
