Austal Receives Patrol Boat Order

Austal annoucned it has received an order to provide the Bermuda Marine Police Service with a 16 meter aluminium monohull vessel to be based in Hamilton Harbour for general patrol, search and rescue, dive operations and general assistance to Police departments and Government agencies in Bermuda Territorial Waters. The new boat will be powered by twin Caterpillar C12 diesels each rated 492 kW connected to Twin Disc Quickshift MGX 5114A gearboxes.

The new vessel is said to offer a significant range increase over the current vessel that is soon to be retired. It is designed and built to operate up to 200 nautical miles offshore with a 400 nautical mile range at a cruise speed of 20 knots, maximum speed will be 28 knots. It will have a beam of 4.87 meters and a draft of 1.25 meters and will have a Code Class 2B survey under Australian Uniform Shipping Laws (USL).
