MAN Diesel & Turbo Startup Set For 2010

Posted on September 30, 2009

In a continuation of the reorganization of its engine and turbomachinery operations, MAN Diesel has announced the formation of MAN Diesel & Turbo, which will be the new business formed from the recent merging of the MAN Diesel and MAN Turbo activities.

The new company will be operational from the beginning of 2010 and will incorporate the full product lines of MAN Diesel and MAN Turbo, as well as some of the industrial engines currently manufactured by MAN Nutzfahrzeuge in Nuremberg, specifically the high speed units for marine, power generation and locomotive applications. The estimated additional turnover from high speed engines is US$219 million in 2010, the company said.

MAN Diesel & Turbo will also look at a closer cooperation with gear manufacturer Renk, which is partly owned by MAN, to create combined product packages. The future shape of the MAN Group will thus focus on two main strategic businesses, commercial vehicles and power engineering
