Over 700 Vocational Trainees Begin Training at a MAN Group Company

Posted on September 3, 2009

Beginning with the fall training session, 742 students will begin their vocational training at a MAN Group company, keeping the Company’s recruitment at last year’s level. The trainees will be starting their careers in more than 30 vocations - ranging from conventional business administration through the electrician and machinist trades.

Vocational trainee positions at MAN are much sought after; more than 6,000 applications were received this year. Qualifications in the fields of mechatronics, automotive mechatronics and business administration are in particular demand. MAN is offering a dual production mechanic traineeship for the first time which integrates vocational training that leads to a higher education entry qualification. Jörg Schwitalla, Chief Human Resources Officer (CHRO) of MAN SE, said: “Even in economically difficult times, we exercise social responsibility by offering a broad range of traineeships, thereby creating a new generation of employees with skills.” MAN currently employs a total of around 2,000 vocational trainees at its German plants and sales branches and around 2,400 worldwide.

MAN operates one of Bavaria’s biggest training centers in Augsburg. It has 480 students at present. With more than 1,900 trainees, the Commercial Vehicles business offers the largest range of trainee positions within the MAN Group. “Because they are recognized for their high quality, traineeships at MAN have been a sound basis for professional careers for decades,” Schwitalla emphasized.
