Capstone Turbine Receives Order For C1000 Power Package

Posted on September 1, 2010

Capstone Turbine Corp., a manufacturer of microturbine energy systems, has received an order for a C1000 power package from an independent oil and natural gas company exploring the Piceance Basin in the United States.

Capstone distributor Pumps & Service secured the order. The C1000 low-emission turbine will provide 1 MW of power to an unmanned natural gas compressor station along a pipeline in remote Northwestern Colorado. The microturbine, which will produce electricity to power on-site equipment, will run on natural gas pumped through the pipeline.

The oil and gas market is expected to grow in the coming years, especially with the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s Clean Air Act’s emissions level requirements for natural gas sites, according to Capstone. Experts estimate that the Piceance Basin contains trillions cubic feet of natural gas.
