PrintMTU Friedrichshafen Introduces New Gen-Set At SMM Exhibition
At this year’s SMM exhibition, which runs from today until Friday in Hamburg, Germany, MTU Friedrichshafen, a Tognum subsidiary, will introduce a new, standardized generator set for diesel-electric propulsion and onboard power generation.
The gen-set family consists of a workboat engine from the MTU Series 4000 Ironmen, with a choice of 8-, 12- or 16-cylinders, a generator and electronic control system mounted on a rigid base frame. The gen-set, which covers a power range of 760 to 2240 kW, is designed for commercial marine applications, such as offshore supply vessels for wind parks or oil and gas platforms.
The gen-set, whose engine can be configured for power outputs up to 3000 kW on request, also comes in a compact size and meets the provisions of all current emissions guidelines, according to the company.
