Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, Marubeni Receive Gen-Set Order
Mitsubishi Heavy Industries (MHI) and Marubeni Corp. have received an order for two sets of a steam turbine and generation, which can generate 1000 MW a piece. The two sets will be used for ultra-super-critical-pressure coal-fired power generation units of the Korea East-West Power Co. (EWP).
The two sets, which will be delivered starting in 2013, will be installed in the Unit #9 and Unit #10 power plants under construction at EWP’s existing Dangjin Coal-Fired Power Complex and will help meet the country’s increasing electricity demand.
MHI will supply the two sets, manufacturing the turbines in house, and Marubeni will transport them as well as be responsible for the provision of auxiliary equipment. Mitsubishi Electric Corp. will provide the generators.
The Dangjin Coal-Fired Power Complex is about 70 km southwest of Seoul, South Korea. Unit #9 and Unit #10 are Korea’s first 1000 MW power generation systems, according to the company.
