Siemens To Supply Gen-Sets To York Energy Centre Power Plant
Siemens Energy will supply two SGT6-PAC 5000F gas turbine-generators and supporting gas turbine auxiliaries for the York Energy Centre power plant in the township of King, Ontario, Canada.
The 400 MW natural gas-fired plant, which is scheduled to be commissioned in the second quarter of 2012, will supply power to more than one million people living in the northern York region.
The plant will supply power during times of peak demand, assisting the Independent Electric System Operator (IESO) in meeting the North American grid reliability standards, according to the company.
The SGT6-5000F gas turbine has more than 6.5 million fleet operating hours of experience and has achieved 98% reliability.
