Change At The Top For MAN

Posted on September 1, 2011

René Umlauft has become the CEO at the Augsburg-based large-bore engine and turbomachinery manufacturer MAN Diesel & Turbo, effective Sept. 1. Umlauft, 46, has moved from the Renewable Energy division of Siemens AG to Augsburg and will also join the executive board of MAN SE as a deputy member.

The move means that the Power Engineering Business Area is once again represented on the executive board of MAN’s Corporate Center. In addition to his role as CEO, Umlauft will also have responsibility on MAN’s executive board for the Strategic Business Unit Power Plants and for the company’s power plant business.

After joining the Siemen’s gas turbines development department in 1991, Umlauft moved through various managerial roles until he headed the Renewable Energy Division, which he expanded and orientated in his role as CEO.

Umlauft’s predecessor, Hans-O. Jeske, 62, who had been acting as interim CEO, will will serve as chief technology officer and as the executive board member responsible for the Turbomachinery Strategic Business Unit. Other executive board members are Peter Park (Finance) and Stephan Timmermann (Engines & Marine Systems, After Sales).
