Bringing Down The NOx

Siemens STG6-5000F achieves 25 ppm NOx emissions on fuel oil

Posted on September 30, 2013

Siemens announced that its SGT6-5000F gas turbine has set a new benchmark in the industry by demonstrating 25 ppm NOx emissions on fuel oil.

The company said the current industry standard is 42 ppm for other OEM F-Class gas turbines. In order to provide both the highest power output and lowest emissions for this type of turbine on fuel oil, Siemens said it invested in research and development of the SGT6-5000F combustion system with water injection.

After testing under real world conditions, Siemens said the result was achieved at the Elk River Peaking Station in Minnesota, U.S.A., in conjunction with Great River Energy.

The company said this turbine with the new capability is currently commercially available.
