Powering Up Argentina
US$800 million order for turnkey construction, power generation, full service maintenance
Siemens Energy received an order from Fideicomiso Central Termoelectrica Guillermo Brown S.A. for the turnkey construction of the Guillermo Brown thermoelectric power plant in Argentina.
The core of the new power plant will consist of two SGT5-4000F gas turbines, which produce a combined electrical generating capacity of 580 MW. The order volume, including power transmission, fuel supply solutions and a full service maintenance contract for 10 years, amounts to US$800 million.
The Guillermo Brown power plant will be built near the city of Bahia Blanca in the province of Buenos Aires, about 650 km southwest of Argentina’s capital. In addition to the turnkey construction, Siemens will deliver two SGT5-4000F gas turbines and two SGen5-1000A generators in a simple-cycle configuration, as well as the infrastructure works at the port to offload fuel, high-voltage transmission lines, switchyard and fuel pipe lines for the power plant. Commissioning is scheduled for 2015.
