Capstone powering into Mexico industrial CHP, CCHP market

Posted on September 18, 2013

Capstone Turbine Corp., a clean technology manufacturer of microturbine energy systems, has received an order for one C800 (800kW) and one C600 (600kW) for two large industrial customers in Mexico.

The C800 combined heat and power (CHP) system will be installed at a large food and beverage packaging factory in San Luis Potosi. In addition to supplying power for the facility using natural gas, the exhaust from the microturbine will provide hot water for the manufacturing process.

The C600 will be installed at a plastics injection molding company in Guadalajara. The microturbine will drive a combined cooling heating and power (CCHP) system, using chilled water in the injection molding process. The facility is expected to save 45% on its energy costs after installing the microturbine CCHP system, the company said.
