Siemens To Buy Rolls-Royce Energy?
Rolls-Royce confirms it is in talks to sell power-generation assets to Siemens
Adding to the recent flurry of merger talks that, if/when complete, will reshape the global energy landscape, Rolls-Royce has confirmed it is in talks with Siemens over the sale of its energy gas turbine and compressor business in a possible $1.5 billion deal.
The Rolls-Royce business supplies aero-derivative gas turbines, compressor systems and related services to customers in the oil and gas and power generation sectors.
These talks have not concluded and we will make a further announcement in due course, said Rolls-Royce.
The deal would be the latest in a huge potential shake up of the global energy sector following the news that both Siemens and GE were reported to be interested in taking over Alstom’s energy assets.
However, Alstom’s board is understood to prefer a bid from GE.
