Finning Power Systems Backs Up Data Center
Finning Power Systems has installed and commissioned 21 Caterpillar generator sets and ancillary equipment to provide critical emergency power for three Digital Realty Trust sites in the U.K. and France. The total power installation nears 30 MW.
The first phase of the project included six Cat 3512B diesel generator sets, each producing 1280 kWe. A UPS system ensures an uninterrupted supply to the servers while the generator starts automatically. This first system is split among three pods, each with two gen-sets. Two pods power specific sections of the center, while the third acts as a swing unit. Each unit has fuel tank for a 24 hour supply.
