Alstom Obtains Coating Services Company
Alstom Power Inc. has acquired the business and facilities of Amstar Surface Technology Ltd. and Amstar International Ltd., headquartered in Houston, Texas, U.S.A.
Amstar, which specializes in thermal spray coatings that protect against corrosion, erosion and wear, had sales of US$11 million in 2009. The company also employs about 50 people.
Alstom provides low-carbon technologies in the power sector, including nuclear, solar, hydro, wind, coal and natural gas with carbon capture. Alstom has 6500 employees in the United States and is investing in several new facilities, such as a factory in Chattanooga, Tennessee, U.S.A.
