Mitsubishi Power Systems To Provide Power Plant System to College

Mitsubishi Power Systems Americas Inc. (MPS) will provide its combined heat and power plant system to the University of Central Florida. The system, powered by the company’s 18KU30GSI natural gas-fueled reciprocating engine, will generate about 5.5 MW of electrical power to the university’s campus.

The benefits of this system to the university include a lower carbon footprint, reduced carbon dioxide emissions, reduced electrical grid demand, lower operating costs and expanded chilled water production, according to the company.

The university also has invested in a high efficiency emissions control system to benefit campus residents. The system should become operational in fall 2011.
