New CEO for MAN B&W Diesel

Dr. Georg Pachta-Reyhofen has taken over as CEO of MAN B&W Diesel AG, Augsburg. Håkan Samuelsson, the Chairman of the Supervisory Board of MAN B&W Diesel, has also resigned from his post of “Working Chairman”, a role in which he has guided the company since January 2005. As of 1st July 2006, Dr. Pachta-Reyhofen will also become a Member of the Board of MAN AG, the MAN Group’s headquarters in Munich. The Deputy CEO of MAN B&W Diesel AG, Fritz Pape, will retire at the end of October 2006; until this time, he will remain a Member of the Management Board of MAN AG.

Dr. Pachta-Reyhofen studied mechanical engineering at the Technical University of Vienna and, following completion of his Diploma in Engineering in 1981, worked as a university assistant. In 1985 he gained his doctorate in technical sciences. One year later, he joined ÖAF Graf & Stift AG, Vienna – now MAN Sonderfahrzeuge AG – as a project engineer. He later took over as head of truck chassis development and ultimately bus development. In 1996, Dr. Pachta-Reyhofen moved to the Turkish capital of Ankara with the MAN Nutzfahrzeuge Group, initially as Technical Manager and then, from 1998 onwards, as Technical Director of MAN Nutzfahrzeuge Türkiye. In 1999, he returned to Germany as a manager at MAN Nutzfahrzeuge AG's Engine Development centre in Nuremberg. In July 2001, Pachta-Reyhofen was appointed to the Board of MAN Nutzfahrzeuge AG in Munich, with responsibility for the areas of Research and Development and Purchasing. Dr. Pachta-Reyhofen is an Austrian citizen, is married and has three children.

Following the change of Dr. Pachta-Reyhofen's position within the MAN Group, the Board of MAN B&W Diesel AG, which from 1st September 2006 will be known as MAN Diesel SE, looks as follows: Dr. Georg Pachta-Reyhofen, Chairman; Fritz Pape (until end October 2006), Deputy Chairman, Production and Logistics; Dr. Peter Sunn Pedersen, Two-stroke engines; Dr. Stefan Spindler, Four-stroke engines; Dr. Stephan Timmermann, Turbochargers and After-sales service Tage Reinert, Controlling
