ATPS Becomes Virtual Event

30 September 2020

The Turbomachinery Laboratory (Turbo Lab) at Texas A&M will hold the Asia Turbomachinery & Pump Symposium (ATPS) virtually in light of the continuing coronavirus pandemic. The event remains scheduled from Feb. 23-25, with short courses set for Feb. 22, albeit in a virtual format.

The decision came from the Turbo Lab leadership team, who collaborated with ATPS platinum sponsor Petronas, gold sponsor Mitsubishi Power Ltd. (MPL) and the Malaysia Convention & Exhibition Bureau regarding the switch.

“At the Turbo Lab, the health and safety of our delegates and exhibitors is of the utmost importance,” said Dag Calafell, chair of ATPS. “We look forward to being able to offer the same world-class educational forum and exhibition while working to slow the spread of COVID-19.”

The original 2020 event was scheduled from April 7-9. After the coronavirus became a worldwide pandemic, the Turbo Lab moved the event to Aug. 4-6 and then again to its current dates.

The Turbo Lab expects to host the 2022 ATPS in-person at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, the original location of ATPS 2020. More information on this future event will follow from the leadership team.
