Alstom Shareholders OK Merger With Siemens Mobility

By Jack Burke17 July 2018

Alstom shareholders approved the proposed merger of Alstom and Siemens Mobility during a special and combined shareholders’ meetings held in Paris on July 17.

The transaction is expected to be completed in the first half of 2019, subject to regulatory approval. The European Commission announced that it has launched an in-depth review under the EU merger regulation.

The Commission will investigate whether the proposed acquisition of Alstom by Siemens would deprive European rail operators of a choice of suppliers and innovative products, and lead to higher prices, which could ultimately harm the millions of Europeans who use rail transportation every day for work or leisure.”
