CIMAC World Congress sets preliminary program

30th Cimac World Congress highlights combustion engine technology for ship propulsion, power generation and rail traction

CIMAC World Congress, a global gathering of members of the large engine technology sector, has released its preliminary program for the event, which will be held June 12-16 in Busan, South Korea.

The congress, now marking its 30th edition, is titled “Meeting the Future of Combustion Engines” and will highlight digitalization and connectivity, system integration and hybridization, lubricants, electrification and fuel cell development as well as new engine and engine component developments as well as other topics.

“The range of topics that awaits the participants is very broad,” said Marko Dekena, vice president, Technical Program. “A central focus lies on reducing emissions, in particularly of greenhouse gas emissions. Alternative, CO2-neutral fuels to replace fossil fuels play the main role here. But other factors that contribute to the further optimization of engines and the reduction of emissions will not be neglected either.”

As at previous congresses, the organizers said they aim to provide the best possible coverage of the challenges the large engine industry is facing.

This includes novel solutions and new developments as well as the continuous optimization and detail improvement of existing systems.

“The 2023 Congress is taking place under special circumstances,” said Jonas Åkerman, also a vice president, Technical Program. “Our industry is currently facing enormous challenges. The Congress comes at just the right time, the holistic professional exchange along the value chain is unique. Busan offers a perfect opportunity to keep up to date with what is happening in the internal combustion engine industry and along the value chain”.

CIMAC is the leading global nonprofit Association of the Internal Combustion Machinery Industry consisting of National Member Associations and Corporate Members in 27 Countries in America, Asia and Europe. CIMAC represents the large engine technology sector. This includes diesel and gas engines which are used for power generation, marine propulsion, and locomotives. Our stakeholders include manufacturers, researchers, suppliers and end-users. It is our vision to promote large engine technology power solutions that are efficient, reliable, safe and sustainable and of benefit to society, in pursuit of the transition to a low-carbon future.
