INNIO Makes More Cuts At Waukesha Facility

INNIO is “instituting a partial business closing” of its facility in Waukesha, Wisconsin, USA, which produces Waukesha Gas Engines.

The move will eliminate 75 to 120 hourly positions from the facility’s current 153, the company told the state of Wisconsin in its layoff notice. The company will begin eliminating positions Dec. 31.

Founded in 1906, Waukesha’s distinctive orange-colored gas engines have been manufactured in Waukesha and more recently from Welland, Ontario, Canada. The 450 000 sq. ft. facility began production in 2018.

The Waukesha products are primarily used in compression and transporting gas applications. In 2018, GE sold its Distributed Power business, which included the Waukesha and Jenbacher brands, to a private equity firm for US$3.25 billion. The brand was renamed INNIO in late 2018.
