Nor-Shipping rescheduled to April over COVID concerns

Show was scheduled for Jan. 10-13

In the face of increasing coronavirus infection rates, driven by the Omicron mutation, Nor-Shipping officials have postponed the exhibition and event program until April 4-7.

The event, held in Oslo and Lillestrøm, Norway, was scheduled for Jan. 10-13 and typically attracts up to 50 000 attendees and 900 exhibiting companies, organizers said.

The rescheduled date will allow for freer international travel, less social distancing, and a more vibrant networking, knowledge sharing and business platform, organizers said in a news release.

“It gives me great pleasure to confirm this date and inform the industry that, although we’ve been delayed, they won’t have to wait too long to gather again!,” Sidsel Norvik, director, Nor-Shipping. “It was obviously disappointing to postpone the January program, but the power of Nor-Shipping lies in its ability to bring diverse stakeholders face-to-face, build relationships, share solutions, inspire one another, and do business. That would have been impossible under the current Omicron restrictions.”

Exhibitors and ticket holders that have made bookings will have them transferred to the new date, while a revamped activity program – including the prestigious Ocean Leadership Conference and innovative Blue Talks – is currently being finalized.

The last Nor-Shipping event was held in 2019, before Cornovirus.
