Ellwood National Crankshaft Nears Completion of Two Major Projects

Posted on April 25, 2005

In April of 2005, Ellwood National Crankshaft will introduce an upgraded stacker crane for its Loewy Press. The Loewy, a unique 4000 t, horizontal, multidirectional, closed die press, is used to forge continuous grain flow crankshafts, and the US$650 000 upgraded stacker crane will increase the production capacity of the Press substantially.

In addition, a rebuilt and upgraded FKW 240 GFM crankshaft milling machine will be installed and tested in May of this year, with the first production run scheduled for June. The US$800 000 investment, which includes new CNC controls that allow for faster changeovers and increased versatility, will increase ENC's rough milling capacity.
