On The Fast Track
First APR Energy mobile gas turbine project in sub-Saharan Africa; contract renewals announced
APR Energy has signed a new contract to provide fast-track power in Angola. Featuring GE mobile gas turbines, the deal represents APR’s first turbine project in sub-Saharan Africa and quickly follows the company’s recent acquisition of GE’s power rental business in October of this year.
The new 12-month contract in Angola, providing APR Energy’s full turnkey solution, will utilize two of the four non-contracted mobile gas turbines. The plant is expected to begin operations in early 2014.
APR has also extended its existing 40 MW diesel power module contract in Angola for a further 12-month period.
In the U.S. Virgin Islands, APR secured a 12-month extension on the 25 MW mobile gas turbine contract that was assumed as part of the recent acquisition of GE’s power rental business.
Finally, the company also extended its 20 MW mobile gas turbine contract in Martinique through the first quarter of 2014.
