U.S. Order for ME-C Engines

The United States owner, Overseas Shipholding Group, has announced an order for four 216 000 m3 LNG carriers at Korean yards Hyundai and Samsung. Each vessel will use twin MAN B&W 6S70ME-C engines rated 18 660 kW at 91 r/min for the main propulsion system. The engines for the Hyundai vessels will be built by Hyundai Heavy Industries and for the Samsung vessels by HSD. The engines will burn HFO and the cargo boil off gas will be returned to the tanks via onboard reliquefaction plants. Each yard will deliver two vessels for the Rasgas II project for shipping Qatari gas to the United Kingdom.
