Big Power Order For Petrochemical Complex

Finning Power Systems announced it has been awarded a US$16 million framework agreement from Saudi Kayan to provide the emergency power for the multi-billion Saudi Kayan petrochemical complex.

The site will be one of the largest petrochemical complexes in the world with an annual production capacity exceeding 4 million metric tons of petrochemical and chemical products. A joint venture between Saudi Basic Industries and Al-Kayan, it will be located at Jubail Industrial City.

The construction plans include a provision for approximately 23 MW of emergency power. Finning Power Systems will install and commission 15 Caterpillar generator sets, along with generator control panels, neutral grounding panels, battery charging systems, sound attenuation equipment, fuel tanks and power management systems.

As part of the utilities contract Finning will be supplying six 1.6 MW, four 2.3 MW, two 1 MW and one 500 kW substations. The company will also be supplying two 1.6 MW generators, load banks and HV switchgear.
