Concepts NREC Opens New Manufacturing Facility

Posted on February 14, 2012

Concepts NREC, a specialist in turbomachinery design, research, engineer¬ing, software, and manufacturing, has opened its new 929 m2 manufacturing and products facility. The former Woburn, Massachusetts, U.S.A.-based manufacturing business has relocated to the company’s corporate headquarters in Wilder, Vermont, U.S.A.

Concepts NREC’s manufacturing unit supplies turbomachinery-specific production, inspection and testing services. The unit also features multiple 5-axis CNC mills and turning centers capable of producing complex aerospace-quality prototypes, parts and assemblies, the company said. The company’s existing manual machining equipment was also moved into the new building.

In addition, Concept NREC’s facility provides space for its VAROC Air Brake-Dynamometer business consisting of assembly and test areas as well as inventory space for machine shop and products. Dynamometers are used by military and commercial organizations worldwide to facilitate the testing of high-speed turboshaft helicopter engines and other shaft-driven craft without needing water or electric utilities.

The move to Vermont has meant job growth for Concepts NREC and Vermont. Hiring so far has included several programmer/machinists, an advanced manufacturing engineer, a planner/expediter, and a product technician. Additional hiring is expected in several areas, including engineering, technicians, quality assurance, and materials man¬agement.
