Damen Vinashin Shipyard, Song Cam Shipyard Sign Agreement
Damen Vinashin Shipyard and Song Cam Shipyard have signed an agreement that allows Song Cam to act as a local partner in the construction and operation of a new shipyard for Damen in Haiphong, Vietnam.
Completion of the first phase of the project, which consists of outfitting hulls, is set for February 2012. The capacity is expected to be about 12 vessels per year.
The first phase will include a Syncrolift with a 2500 ton capacity, an outfitting hall of 80 by 40 m, and various workshops and offices.
The second phase of the five-year plan will increase the capacity to a maximum of 30 tugs, workboats and high-speed craft per year in an outfitting hall of 160 by 150 m. Room is available on the 42-ha site for the construction of hulls as well as subcontractors and suppliers in the final phase of the project, according to Damen.
