Wärtsilä Equipment Headed To Dominican Republic

Posted on August 30, 2010

Wärtsilä, a supplier of decentralized power plant products, has received a contract to supply equipment on a turnkey basis for a barge-mounted power plant project in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic. Seaboard Corp. ordered the equipment for the power plant, which will run on natural gas and provide 106 MW to the national grid.

The plant, which should be operational before the end of 2011, will help expand Seaboard’s existing power generation operations in the country. The order includes six Wärtsilä 18V50DF dual-fuel engines in combined cycle mode, including heat recovery boilers for each engine, and a steam turbine generation system.
