IHI to Market Niigata Power Systems Products
Ishikawajima-Harima Heavy Industries Co. (IHI) is strengthening its partnership with subsidiary Niigata Power Systems Co. Once the former motor division of the failed Niigata Engineering Co., the subsidiary develops gas engines for power generation and diesel ship engines.
After acquiring the business, IHI relaunched it as a subsidiary in February 2003. In April, however, it will transform its gas turbine plant business unit into a motor plant business unit. At the same time, it will change its existing marketing method of having each company sell only its respective products to one in which IHI will also sell Niigata Power Systems' products.
With the ability to offer its customers an expanded product line, IHI intends to increase motor sales by 10-15% in fiscal 2005 compared with fiscal 2004.
