Norwegian Vessel To Feature Rolls-Royce Equipment
Rolls-Royce has received a £6 million contract to provide an integrated design, power, propulsion and equipment systems package for an offshore supply vessel to be built at Norwegian ship yard Simek AS for ship owner Atlantic Offshore.
The vessel is a UT 755 LC design powered by two Rolls-Royce C25:33L8P engines, each with an output of 2.56 MW at 900 r/min. It will undertake transport, supply and service duties between onshore supply bases and offshore drilling sites, Rolls-Royce said.
The deck area is arranged for transporting pipes and containers while tanks below deck are used to transport fluids including water, oil, mud and brine. The vessel, which can accommodate 30 crew members, is expected for delivery in summer 2013.
