ABB Maintaining Its Equipment

Long-term agreement with China LNG Shipping to increase life-cycle cost control and fleet reliability

Posted on May 15, 2013

ABB, a leading power and automation technology group, signed a long-term preventive service agreement with China LNG Shipping International Co. Ltd (CLSICO) to provide maintenance services to all ABB equipment onboard its six LNG vessels in the next five years. The contract commenced January 1, 2013.

ABB said it will provide annual site survey and on-call services to the six vessels covered by the agreement, as well as dry dock service every 2.5 years. The scope of the agreement covers preventive maintenance on onboard, power generation plant and mechanical and electrical system.

The new service agreement will help CLSICO with optimizing the vessels’ performance at a predicted minimum level of budget, enabling the company to ensure maximum performance maintenance throughout its assets’ lifecycle and to maximize trading days to the charters.

In total, the six LNG tankers under CLSICO management transport more than 870 000 m3 of natural gas per trip. After feeding the import terminals Guangdong, Fujian and Shanghai, the gas in turn supplies various industries and households in several locations in China.
