Wärtsilä Propulsion for Container Feeder Vessels
Wärtsilä was awarded the contract by Bijlsma Shipyard BV in Lemmer, the Netherlands, to deliver propulsion plants for two, 350 TEU container feeder vessels ordered by the Dutch VeKa Group. For each vessel, Wärtsilä will deliver an eight-cylinder Wärtsilä Vasa 32LN main engine, a Wärtsilä reduction gearbox, a 3.20 m Lips controllable-pitch propeller and a Lips transverse tunnel thruster. The Wärtsilä 8R32LN main engine has a maximum continuous power of 3280 kW at 750 r/min. The ships are due for delivery at the end of 2007.
