Ansaldo Becomes Nidec

ASI brand will remain on company products, technologies

Posted on January 11, 2013

Nidec Corporation announced that it has agreed to acquire all of the shares in Ansaldo Sistemi Industriali S.p.A. from HVEASI Holding, B.V. (Netherlands), a privately owned company affiliated with Patriarch Partners, LLC.

ASI has a strong sales platform in Europe and significant sales track records in China, India, Russia and the Middle East. Nidec aims to accelerate the global expansion of its industrial motor business, increase sales and penetrate new markets through the mutual sharing of the existing brands and business relationships.

The transaction is expected to take advantage of ASI market strengths and offer a wider range of products that are currently not in Nidec’s industrial motor product portfolio: high power output (3730 to 35 000kW) large industrial motors, low- and medium-voltage drives, and industrial systems and automation.

Ansaldo said that the change in name would not impact its juridical identity. Therefore, following the company name change, all existing deeds, contracts and agreements with the company remain fully effective, with no need for amendment or modification.

Consequently, documentation by the company will be issued as Nidec ASI S.p.A
