Healing Power

Gen-Sets for Chicago hospital keep vital power flowing

Posted on October 7, 2013

The Rush University Medical Center of Chicago, Illinois, U.S.A., has installed six MTU 2 MW 16 V Series 4000 to provide backup power in the event of a utility outage.

The generator sets are equipped with automatic transfer switches and paralleling switchgear; the redundant design boosts reliability, the company said.

Each of these three-phase units is equipped with a DGC-2020 digital controller that relays start and stop commands from the switchgear to the generator. The Inland Power Group supplied components of the standby power system, including the paralleling and transfer switchgear.
