Wärtsilä Launches New Marine Products
Wärtsilä has launched its communication and control center – the Wärtsilä 3C – at the SMM exhibition in Hamburg, Germany, which started today and runs through Friday. The company also has introduced a propulsion condition monitoring service (PCMS) designed to provide customers with real-time data and analytics on the condition of a vessel’s propulsion equipment.
The Wärtsilä 3C integrates an entire vessel’s control unit into a common interface. It’s designed for leveraging energy management and navigation as well as optimizing the ship’s efficiency and reducing its emissions, according to the company.
It’s also designed to help owners achieve real-time fleet management and is supported by the company’s global service capabilities to maximize the availability and efficiency of the ship’s crucial operating equipment, Wärtsilä said.
The PCMS has been developed to detect the operational states of propulsion equipment through real-time comparisons of parameters from multiple sources. It is also the designed to measure vibrations on the inside of thrusters using sensors located next to bearings and gears. The PCMS’ major benefits are to prevent damage, lower life cycle costs and limit a vessel’s environmental impact, according to Wärtsilä.
