13 Cat Gas Engines For China Pilot Project
30 March 2016
Caterpillar Oil & Gas announced that a total of 13 Cat G3600 and G3500 gas engines have been selected by two China gas OEMs — Yantai Jereh Oilfield Services Group Co., Ltd and Beijing Jerrywon Energy Equipments Co., Ltd. — for a pilot gas compression installation in Yanchang, China. No financial details were provided.
The engines will provide a combined power of 12,877 kW and will be used to drive gas compressors. The engines are scheduled to be fully operational in October.
“The Yanchang gas compression project is one of the largest, most significant projects for the China gas industry in recent years,” said Alan Zhang, Caterpillar Oil & Gas Asia Pacific – China sales manager. “This is a landmark project for both Caterpillar and our dealers who collaborated on this project, Lei Shing Hong Machinery and WesTrac China. We look forward to more opportunities to power the China gas compression market with Cat solutions.”
The Cat G3516 and G3600 gas engines selected for this project operate on lean burn engine technology designed to reduce combustion temperatures and provide low engine-out NOx emissions without the need for aftertreatment. The engines are manufactured in Lafayette, Indiana, U.S.A., and are equipped with electronic controls for engine monitoring, protection and technology that includes the ability to link to Cat Connect Services. Cat Connect offers an array of remote monitoring services including Advanced Condition Monitoring and Cat Productivity Optimizer for effective equipment management and increased productivity.
