Passing The Test

20 November 2017

Mitsubishi Heavy Industries Ltd. (MHI), Mitsubishi Hitachi Power Systems, Ltd. (MHPS) and Mitsubishi Heavy Industries Compressor Corp. (MCO) announced they have successfully completed NOx testing of MHPS’s two-shaft H-100 gas turbine.

Rated 120 MW, MHI said the H-100 incorporates its latest 10-can combustor technology and provides NOx levels in the single-digit ppm range for full load operations. The turbine can be used for thermal power plant applications as well as mechanical drive LNG (liquefied natural gas) applications, utilizing high-efficiency compressors manufactured by MCO, MHI said.

“We are confident this can be a game-changer for the LNG industry, as well as thermal power plants, in terms of lower production costs,” said MHI President & CEO Shunichi Miyanaga. “We can now deliver increased productivity, reduced complexity and lower lifecycle costs, while significantly reducing plant emissions.”

The H-100 turbine incorporates a horizontal split casing, and 17-stage axial compressor and high- and low-power turbine sections. Benefits of the two-shaft gas turbines for LNG mechanical drive application include reduced footprint, broad variable-speed operation, shortened start-up time and space savings, the company said.
